That’s why we built the SK15. We moved away from those old halogen tubes and went with a carbon fiber filament wrapped in quartz. Why? Because it pushes out infrared heat that actually sinks deep into the coating, rather than just baking the surface. The nitty-gritty stuff One thing I love about the SK15 is the plug-in connector. It’s simple. When a tube finally burns out, you just swap it. No rewiring the whole lamp head, no headache. We spent a lot of time balancing the wattage and the length of these units. We wanted to make sure you get enough heat to trigger that chemical bond in the paint without accidentally scorching the car. Plus, it’s fast. Like, “flip the switch and it’s hot” fast. Built to actually last Cheap lamps usually fail at the connection point—you’ll see arcing and sparks when they’re hooked up to high power. We reinforced that spot specifically so you don’t have to worry about it. We also used quartz glass to handle the thermal shock and carbon fiber because it doesn’t get brittle and snap like metal filaments do. It’s just tougher. Using it on the floor This is your go-to for “spot curing.” Instead of waiting hours for a whole panel to dry, you target the area you’re working on and finish it in minutes. Your bay turnover goes way up. But a word of warning: this thing packs a punch. Because the IR energy is so concentrated, you have to watch your distance. If you get too close to a piece of plastic trim, you’re going to warp it. Or worse, you’ll end up with bubbles in the finish. Stick to the distance chart, use a dedicated controller to manage the heat, and you’re golden.
